Who would believe that the smallest and most industrialised of all South Africa’s provinces contains such a collection of traditional and cultural homesteads?! From turn of the century Voortrekker white and coloured farmsteads to colourful Ndebele, Zulu huts to Credo Mutwa’s garden of mythical African figures – there is certainly a homestead for just about every filming requirement.

You’ve brewed your own coffee liqueur , Skittles-flavored vodka , and even made edible shot glasses . What could be left in your alcohol-powered bag of tricks? It’s time to brew some homemade wine. Photo by Rein Rache. . First let’s clear the air on this experiment: you’re no Monopole, and this isn’t going to yield a vintage bottle of Château Lafite Rothschild Pauillac. What you will end up with, however, is a home-brewed concoction that is around 10% alcohol and mixes well with other things like juice or, as the guide suggests, some good old Kool-Aid.
