Coast 2 Coast Vacation Rentals offers great lodging in the Vail Valley, Vail Village, and Lionshead. Vacation rentals are close to these fine dining and refreshment locations. Bars The Tap Room 333 Bridge St Vail CO Those escaping the mountain to check the latest NFL scores head to The Tap Room and for multiple TVs and a solid beer selection that includes Smithwick’s and Trumer. Eight beers on tap and another 20 or so in bottles make this an excellent spot for a brew, day or night, and the burgers and wings are some of the best in town.

How public libraries can overcome budget cuts through cultural, educational, and business partnerships By Thomas Badgett                   In the current difficult economic times, libraries of all sizes and types face budget cuts, often quite severe. At the same time the need and demand for library services surges. In order to minimize cutbacks libraries need to play to their strengths and promote how much value they offer to anyone who chooses to use them.

You know, in the course of putting my mind back to the task of completing the first round of Gormenghastocabulary, I’ve realized that I’ve marked off words as “new” that I technically knew. Which is weird. Like this morning I was preparing to do this and saw that one of the next in the list was “malkin.” I know what that means. Further, its meaning was contextually evident. It was Countess Groan, and she was talking to her cats, and malkin is a synonym for cat.

Imagine to my surprise when I found out that the Kronenbourg 1664 Blanc – a delightfully citrus-y, fruity and refreshing white wheat beer – comes from France. If you like the Belgian Hoegaarden , you’re bound to like this. It even has the same flavouring ingredients, such as coriander seed and orange peel. I first tried this brew at the new KPO Cafe Bar within the Killiney Post Office building (they have it on tap), when a business acquaintance of mine was back in town from New York and a few of us decided catch up there.

My next guest is a musician in the purest of forms. After listening to his new album, ‘Hobs End’ it was amazing to me to find out that the band, Requiem for Delinquency, is a one man classically trained composer named Faron Chance Morrison. The music that RFD creates might not be for Top 40 radio but that is not important here. What is important is Requiem for Delinquency is about creating music that is created on his own terms.
It’s Miami Spice time againmangoandlime.net

It’s that time of year again. Miami Spice 2009 kicks off this Saturday, August 1 with about 100 restaurants offering three-course lunch and/or dinner menus for $22 and $35 plus tax and gratuity.Once upon a time, I looked forward to this time of year, especially in earlier days when Miami Spice was a chance for me to try restaurants I couldn’t afford at the time, and when it seemed as if many of the restaurants put a little more effort into showcasing their food on the Spice menus. I still fondly remember a Miami Spice dinner I had at The Grill at the Setai as a wonderful dining experience.

Just getting over jet-lag after being back for five days. The trip was great. We met some wonderful people; reestablished relationships with others, enjoyed great scenery—natural and man made, had good food and wine, did some good hiking and biking. And learned some French—we’re both improved immensely and Louisa can carry on a conversation. We would liked to have posted more, but we didn’t take a computer, and France and Switzerland don’t have many internet cafes.

Jacintha Clark and her painting, “Bicyclette,” which was for sale at Alliance Francaise French Summer Soiree. Photo by Steve Peterson, Special to The Denver Post For one magical night, guests came about as close to France as one can without actually getting on a plane. The occasion: Alliance Francaise de Denver’s eighth French Summer Soiree, which brought Francophiles from throughout the area to the Monet Garden at Denver Botanic Gardens to sample offerings from six French restaurants and bakeries while sipping wine and enjoying French-themed art created by students at Metropolitan State College of Denver.

Summer dining at Parc is hard to beat; Bottom left photo by G. Widman, Top and bottom right courtesy Parc Parc , Stephen Starr’s airy Parisian brasserie located right on Rittenhouse Square, recently celebrated its first birthday . Which gives us a good excuse to spotlight it. Summer is a great time to visit Parc . And for any meal really — breakfast, lunch, brunch, a mid-afternoon snack, happy hour, dinner, dessert, post dinner drinks, a late-night bite — they’re all perfectly good times and/or reasons to visit.
