I recently toured 2120 Wyoming Avenue, NW #1 with Shawn Breck of TTR Sotheby’s International Realty. This home is amazing and would be perfect for a couple whose children are grown, or who plan to have a baby in a few years, or those who don’t have any babies in their future. This two-bedroom two and one-half bath condominium offers 2,200 sq/ft. of professionally and artfully planned living space. New in 2006, this boutique property affords a private elevator opening directly into unit, security system with security camera monitor for buliding interior and exterior areas, and private parking for two vehicles.

by C.J.S. Hayward Introduction Do children and adults understand each other? To some degree, and if many adults have lost touch with childhood, there are some who understand childhood very well. But when I was a child, I wanted to write a book about things adults don’t understand about children. (I have since forgotten with what I wanted to write.) There is a gulf. A father can read a Calvin and Hobbes strip, and his little girl can ask what’s funny, and the father is in a pickle.

I had been hearing a lot about the new W launched this Summer in DC so this past weekend I decided to head downtown and check it out with a group of friends. In general, I’m a big fan of Starwood Hotels so had high expectations walking in, tempered slightly by some of the stories I had heard from friends who had trouble getting in. Thankfully, we didn’t have any issues at the door and I was more than impressed with the overall experience of the venue.

I came across a feature in the August issue of Food & Wine magazine that I really enjoyed, and I wanted to share it with you in case you missed it. Usually, when food mags show “easy entertaining ideas” I can’t help but roll my eyes a bit. Do you know what I mean? I love looking at articles showing elaborate spreads that take days and days to make from scratch, but in reality those recipes just end up in my recycling bin. However. There is an article in Food & Wine crammed full of creative summer parties.

Anyone familiar with traditional Spanish tapas can attest to the fact that the phrase “vegan tapas” is almost an oxymoron. Which means, of course, that tapas are exactly what CH was in the mood for on his b-day a few weeks ago! (Not vegan tapas, per se , but I digress…) As a result, when I decided to make him a delicious spread of vegan tapas for dinner, I felt like I was grasping at straws. So, I kept racking my brain for ideas based upon the food that we encountered in Spain years ago.
