Almost everybody was crying wolf early this spring and then people got tired of hearing the chant, so no one paid any attention to what was happening. Could this be a repeat of the circumstances that happened in 1918 when 50-100 MILLION people died from the “turn-around” pandemic? It has never been clear where that pandemic began. In seven years of work on a history of the pandemic, a review suggests that the most likely site of origin was Haskell County, Kansas, an isolated and sparsely populated county in the southwest corner of the state, in January 1918.
