1. Bocadillos in the Barbary Coast area – Chef Gerald Hirigoyen presents an amazing authentic/traditional Basque tapas menu, and the wine pairings are usually right on.
2. EOS Wine Bar in Cole Valley – Very creative fusion style tapas, often with a slightly asian flair, and a superb wine list.
3. Vino Venue in SOMA – the tapas menu is very limited, but this place is really fun for it’s wide variety of wines and it’s high tech “tasting card” approach – you buy a mag striped card for a certain value, then can use it to dispense one ounce pours for yourself all night long.
4. Iluna Basque in North Beach – delicious and more affordable tapas, but the wines are not of the caliber of the other three.
