What does a decent bottle of “chianti” wine cost?

Hello. I need to bring a bottle of “chianti” (red Italian wine) to a dinner. I don’t have a LOT of money for extravagance, but I do want to bring a decent bottle to the dinner. Can anyone suggest what a good bottle would cost and what a good brand of chianti wine would be? Thanks!

Chianti is a table wine; meant for every day drinking with dinner. Oh sure, there are fine, expensive chianti if you look for it, but a perfectly drinkable bottle shouldn’t be any more than $6.00 – $8.00

you can get OK chianti for about $10 in the US, but to get really authentic chianti in the wicker basket/bottle, they are usually a little more, at closer to $20.

You can get a good one for under $10. Pio is quite good.
